  • Soo I got called in to work a day at a florist I interviewed with, and at the end of the day they offered me a full time position! It is so exciting! Tomorrow I already have an appointment to look at apartments and everything. I feel like I am becoming an adult so fast, apparently all it really takes is employment.

I am really sad to leave my internship though. I love all the girls at Flower Girl, but I can’t stay an intern forever! I am so excited to finally move out, have my own space, and have that awesome feeling of paying for it myself. I am quickly becoming financially independent! (but it still feels good to know mom and dad are a phone call away in case of something dramatic).

I am graduating with my degree in two weeks, and then immediately starting full time employment. It is exciting to think how drastic my life is going to change in the next two weeks. I will be moving out of home for the first time in my life, and working full time in NYC for the first time in my life…a big adventure ahead!

But I am excited for the week to be over…a lot of apartments to look at, a lot of studying for my last finals, and still a heavy work load with my internship…better get some sleep.

  • So the past two week at Flower Girl have been really exciting!  We got beautiful orchids in that I spent a large amount of time re-potting into an arrangement (above).

Also, I show up to work this past Friday and they are shooting a movie right outside our store! (above)  Apparently Morgan Freeman and Jesse Eisenberg are in it!  And I walked right past Jesse Eisenberg in between filming! I was like talking distance away from him!  So cool!  I wanted to ask for a picture, but I was too shy and plus I get really bad celebrity shock for some reason haha…

My co-worker Lauren and I did a flower experiment with roses.  We wanted to see the best way to keep flowers fresh.  We made our own all natural flower-food concoction from a recipe we found online that involved lemon juice, water, sugar, and bleach.  Then in another bucket we sprayed Crowning Glory (a product from Floralife) on the flowers, another bucket we put solid flower food in, and yet another bucket we had just plain water.  When I came in the following week, Lauren said that our home-made recipe completely killed the flowers, and then for the rest of them we did not see much of a difference….it looks like good ‘ole fresh water is Mother Nature’s best solution to longer lasting flowers!

    Food Find:

Lauren also took me to this great dumpling place for lunch called Vanessa’s Dumpling House on Eldridge between Grand & Broome in the Lower East Side. Oh my god, I feel like I have been thinking about their food everyday since I had it.  The most expensive thing on their menu is like 4 bucks (and all the prices on their menu already includes tax.)  For three dollars I got 8 vegetable dumplings! And for like another 1.50 I got a seseme pancake filled with vegetables.  I was so full I felt like I was rolling out of the place, and the wallet damage was not even 5 bucks.  Hands down the best chinese food I have ever had.  If you go there also get one of their milk bubble teas!  Seriously, I never have had food so good in my life, and I just can’t get over the prices.  It is like hobo heaven, all you need is like two dollars to be able to stuff your face.

  • Ah hey everybody.  Sorry for not posting too much, but I just started my internship this week at Flower Girl!  We are located in the lower east side inside the Earnest Sewn denim store at Orchard and Broome.

I absolutely love my new job, and I work with some fantastic people!  Denise is an absolute sweet heart! Yesterday I even got to go to the flower market with my co-worker Lauren and she introduced me to all the wholesalers and I helped her pick out some goodies for the shop.  Then when we got back she let me fill an order and I made my first Flower Girl arrangement (above) !!!

I love their style of design. It is so wild and carefree, and kind of looks like someone ran into an awesome wild field of flowers and grabbed a whole bunch in their hands just for you!  It is so natural and free… really a great way to arrange flowers in their natural essence.  I am really glad I picked up their design style so quickly, but I mean I have been obsessed with their website for over a year now, so I kinda already knew what they were all about!

Ahh what a great work week!  :)

  • Girls night got cancelled so I am stuck in my room with two bottles of wine and my record player, helplessly thinking about a boy who is not thinking about me

  • I GOT AN INTERNSHIP IN MANHATTAN!!!!

I GOT AN INTERNSHIP IN MANHATTAN!!!!

  • Going to bed extra early because tomorrow is my all-time favorite day to work at the florist!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day!  Especially those single ladies, (me included.)  Surround yourself with beautiful things you love, whether it means a movie marathon or an indulgent box of chocolates! Valentine’s Day is about love, and I interpret that in all sense of the word, so I plan on having a movie marathon in my nightgown with a mug of hot chocolate when I come home from a 10 or 11 hour shift from the florist!  Now that is some steamy love!!

  • Omg probably the best date I have been on in a while…it feels good to be appreciated by an equal.

  • Me:
Oh my god mom you must be freezing now that the heat doesn't work in your room! Ugh how do you get out of your warm bed in the morning?
    Mom:
I wait for a hot flash.

  • I saw people I graduated with at the gym today. My beautiful oasis of strangers faces has now been infiltrated by awkward acquaintances….NOOOOO!

  • What the hell is instagram? I just look silly lol

  • Retail therapy with momma and a yoga class to drive these blues away..

  • I can’t wait to go out on a winter hike now! Probably go tomorrow.  Battling the cold is so worth it for the feel and sound of nice crunchy snow under your boots, and plus everything looks beautiful and untouched in the woods.
